I am making a complaint against the sheriff department/ Benson City police department. They harassed me. I had lost my license to child support, My car was pulled over multiple times when I had a valid license and driving I would be followed (closely). The day of the 7th I was pulled over. I was informed I had a suspended license again, also my insurance was invalid. I had no idea. The thing is earlier that same day the 2 sheriff's had evicted my boyfriend and I. No misery! Impounded my car in a whole cost more and now court. I only lost my license due to debt not for being reckless. I feel like the Benson police and Swift county sheriff's office were harassing me. The town has maybe 3000 people. Maybe they were bored. Put simply for the seconds they had seen me drive by, then pulling me over it would not have been done to anyone else. They targeted me.

The Minnesota Data Practices Act is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to public records of government bodies at all levels. Public records are defined as all data collected, created, received, maintained or disseminated by any government entity regardless of its physical form, storage media or conditions of use.

Anyone may request public records and they are also entitled to have the data explained to them if they don’t understand it. No statement of purpose is required and the only restriction of the use of records is that if a commercial use is intended the government agency may charge an additional fee. There is no response time specified in the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
