Chief James Natvig told six of the eight officers below him at the Grundy Center Police Department that the two women at the front desk of City Hall made a complaint about how much officers had been printing within the police department. I spoke with the two women at the front desk who stated they are unaware of how much printing is occurring within the police department and were clueless as to what I was talking about. On Monday September 8, 2025, Chief Natvig sent an email out to all eight officers below him at the Grundy Center Police Department advising officers that the camera in the office has been removed as the free trial period had ended in the middle of August and the camera has not worked since the trail ended. Chief Natvig reminded officers to use their body camera in the office when necessary. Chief Natvig and I as the Captain have access to the application in which the camera was ran through. When I got to work on Tuesday September 9, 2025, I got into the application in which the camera could be viewed and found that the camera had recorded everything from the day it was installed until the moment the camera was disconnected on Monday September 8, 2025 at approximately 1526 hours. Myself as well as other officers with the Grundy Center Police Department now find it extremely difficult to trust Chief Natvig as he lied about such a minor thing. Attached is the email that was sent to officers from Chief Natvig as well as a screenshot of the camera application showing Chief Natvig removing the camera on Monday September 8, 2025.
