Description: Police Officer Bartoloma was charged with Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, a second degree crime in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29‐3A(5), for an incident that occurred on or about January 15, 2023, in the Village of Ridgewood. Officer Bartoloma was charged with making false statement(s) to a law enforcement officer who was investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred while PO Bartoloma was off duty. It was alleged that he told a police officer that he was the driver of a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle accident, knowing that he was not the driver and that he had provided the driver with a vehicle to leave the scene of the accident. PO Bartoloma resigned while IA investigation was pending.
