Description: Lt. Matthew was charged with Offical Misconduct (2 Counts) (N.J.S.A. 2C:30‐2A), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 Counts) (N.J.S.A. 2C:35‐10A(1)), Tampering with Public Records Information (N.J.S.A. 2C:28‐7A), Tampering with or fabricating Phyiscal Evidence (N.J.S.A. 2C:28‐6(2)), and Structuring Financial Deposits (N.J.S.A. 2C:21‐25E(3)) for behavior that occurred while employed with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. It is alleged that he removed narcotics evidence from storage without lawful authorization, later returned the drugs in conditions substantially different than when he signed the evidence out, kept razor blades with cocaine residue in his office, and structured cash deposits at banks in order to avoid transaction reporting requirements. The charges against Lt. Matthew remain open and he is presumed innocent at this time.
