In May of 2016 Mike Knittle resigned from the Chino Valley Police Department after an internal investigation found that he had not been truthful about circumstances surrounding evidence collection after an arrest made in April 2016. The investigation revealed that Knittle had taken an arrestee’s personal property including food items and an unlabeled bottle of medication to his home after the arrest instead of placing them immediately into evidence. Two days later he placed some of the items into evidence but kept other items at his home. He produced the (official narrative incomplete and cut off on records provided to ABC15)
