Description: Sgt. William Nielsen is a Shift Supervisor with the Corrections Division of the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office. Between September 19, 2018 and December 3, 2018, Sgt. Nielsen worked 24 12‐hour Shifts at the Correctional Center. On 15 of the 24 shifts Sgt. Nielsen accessed the internet for personal non‐work‐related activities for longer than 105 minutes. His internet usage exceeded 105 minutes on
each of the 15 shifts. Hisinternet usage time ranged from 112 minutesto 321 minutes Hisinternet usage exceeded 105 minutes on each of the 15 shifts. During the monitoring period, Sgt Nielsen made comments that were
insubordinate regarding his receipt of an internal affairs notice being retaliation. He violated SOP 206 by failing to maintain confidentiality of an Internal Affairs Investigation by revealing this knowledge to three
other Sergeants.
